July 1848: First women's rights convention held in Seneca Falls, New York
1869: National Woman's Sufferage Association was formed by two leaders, Susan B Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton and American Woman Suffrage Association was formed as well
1886: Amendment proposition was declined when it was on the Senate floor
1890: The AWSA and NWSA merged to form the National American Woman Suffrage Association, with the goal to gain womens rights from state to state instead of nationally
1913: Major picketing parade at the Nations capital on inauguration night
1913: Alice Paul founded the National Women's Party
1918: President Wilson changes standpoint and presents the amendment again. It is turned down by two votes
1919: The 19th amendment is passed and sent from state to state for approval. Many southern southern states did not approve but it was passed
